Saving for the Trip of a Lifetime

Many of us have dreamed of world travel. Whether that’s taking a month out of our diaries to skip on an extended holiday across Europe, or taking out a year or longer to explore continent after continent. Now, there are a number of challenges that you will have to overcome to book this kind of trip if you do set your heart on it. But for most people, the biggest challenge is money. Travelling doesn’t come cheap. Not only do you have the price of flights and accommodation to think about, but you have the price of living while you’re away too. When we go on standard holidays, we tend to book all inclusive resorts. But when you travel, you tend to eat locally, so need money for meals and snacks throughout the day. Then there are all of the different activities you’ll want to engage with. You really are going to have to save a fair amount to have the best time possible while you’re away. Here are a few tips that can help you with this!

Clear Your Debts

If you have outstanding debts, it’s best to clear these before you travel. Otherwise, you’re just going to find that you struggle while you are away. While you’re away, you’re likely to need all the money you can get your hands on, as you’re unlikely to be generating any further income while you’re on the move. Agreed repayments and added interest could deduct a fair amount of your living and spending money each month if you need to repay debts at the same time. To make clearing your debts before you travel as simple as possible, consider debt consolidation bad credit. This will provide you with one large loan that you can then use to clear all of your small individual debts. While it won’t reduce the amount that you owe, it will make paying your debts off easier. You will only need to remember one payment date, so are less likely to miss payments, receive fees and fines and impact your credit score.

Take On Extra Work

Once you’re debt free, why not take on extra work to make saving faster? Having an extra part time or freelance job around your usual work will allow you to save larger sums of money faster. Of course, it’s important that you don’t overwork yourself. You could easily burn yourself out or make yourself miserable, as you will be left with little time to do the things you want to do in the lead up to your trip. But a little extra work or overtime here and there could prove extremely beneficial!

Saving for worldwide travel can take time. But have patience. Making sure you’re clear of debt and saving enough before you head away can make the experience a whole lot more pleasant! Hopefully, some of the above tips and tricks can help!
