Fishing Destinations In America

If you’re looking to book a fishing trip or a fishing charter, America has plenty of options to offer. For both novice and experienced fishers alike, these five destinations are a great shout.

1 . Key West, Florida

Key West, is one of the top fishing destinations in the USA. The shipwrecks and reefs here house thousands of different species. You can try out both flat fishing and deep-sea fishing; there are plenty of fishing charters and tours available, catering to all levels of experience. Book a private charter host and enjoy a leisurely day of snorkeling, sunbathing, and fishing! One of the most common fish to catch here are Tarpon and Bonefish. The Tarpon can weigh up to 200 pounds, while the Bonefish are usually small (rarely weighing in at double figures).

2. Waikiki, Hawaii

The Waikiki neighborhood lies on Oahu Island; here, you’ll find one of the world’s best fishing experiences. At the Waikiki Diving Center, you can take part in the famous deep-sea fishing charter. Expect to catch tuna, onu, and (if you’re lucky) the blue marlin. A typical fishing charter provides everything you’ll need, including lure and bait, rods, and reels. Individuals do not usually require a fishing license to go on a sport-fishing trip in Hawaii. For a relaxing island holiday Waikiki is the perfect choice!

3. Virginia Beach

Head on down to the Chesapeake Bay, on the edge of Virginia Beach. Here you’ll find plenty of different fish the whole year around. There are four different fishing piers on the beach and the option to book fishing charters for a whole day or a half-day. On a Virginia Beach Charter, you’ll get the chance to fish for cobia, redfish, and even sharks. In the wintertime, you’ll find that the Striped Bass dominate the fishing scene. You’ll be able to catch as many of the smaller Striped Bass as you please. However, the bigger of these fish will need to be released (due to endangerment laws).

4. Orange Beach, Alabama

Orange Beach is a fantastic place for a fishing trip, with the biggest artificial reef in the USA. These waters are full of billfish and tuna; when you head inshore, you’ll likely catch a pompano or a trout. Amongst the artificial reefs, there are red snapper, grouper, and amberjack. No matter which fishing skill level you have, there are plenty of trips and charters to choose from. Fancy the chance of spotting sharks or dolphins? At Orange Beach, it’s certainly on the cards!

5. Saint Joseph, Michigan

Saint Joseph is an excellent destination for freshwater fishing; there are plenty of fish types to discover, including brown trout, lake trout, and coho salmon. Fishers will need to obtain a Michigan fishing license before going out on one of these trips. Out there, you’ll find plenty of experienced fishermen who can show you the ropes!
